Start here

When old sealer needs attention.

Sealer can fail in more than one way, and we cannot tell from a photo what is going on underneath. We look at the coating and the pavers before we recommend anything. More sealer on top of a failing coat may not solve the problem.

    Dirty, but the sealer holds

If the coating is intact and the pavers are just dirty, you may only need a clean and fresh joint sand.

    Sunken or uneven pavers

Sealer cannot level a settled surface. Pavers that moved need lifting and resetting first.

The process

From stripping to proper resealing.

Restoration is a set of steps in order. The pavers have to be ready before the new sealer goes on.

  1. Gray herringbone paver driveway leading toward homes and palm trees under a clear blue sky

    Inspect the coating

We check the sealer, how well it is holding and the condition of the pavers and joints.

  2. Yellow rotary surface cleaner scrubbing red brick pavers covered in white foam, close view

    Strip what has failed

Failing sealer is removed so the surface is ready. The method depends on what we find.

  3. Blue rotary surface cleaner scrubbing brick pavers with thick white foam and a green hose in the frame

    Prepare to reseal

Once the pavers are clean and ready, cleaning, sanding and sealing follow in order, see paver cleaning, sanding and sealing.

Where we restore

Driveways, walkways, pool decks and lanais.

Failed sealer shows up wherever pavers get sun and water. These are the spaces we are asked about.

  • Blue surface cleaner on a large paver driveway with white foam, in front of a house with red double doors and a garage

    Driveways

Large areas with cars and sun on them. We plan around when you need the driveway back.

  • Walkway pavers beside a dark wall, gray on the upper part, a chalky white film band mid-way and wet brown pavers lower down

    Walkways and entries

Narrow runs where a patchy coat shows right away.

  • Blue rotary surface cleaner scrubbing wet brick pavers beside sliding glass doors, with white foam spreading around it

    Pool decks and lanais

Constant water on the surface. Furniture comes off first, and we can arrange moving help for a fee.

Settled pavers need repair before any coating, see paver repair and releveling.

Cost and scope

What restoration costs, and what it covers.

The price depends on how much old sealer there is, how well it holds, the size of the area and the condition of the pavers. We assess before we quote, and the estimate is free and in writing.

What moves the price

  • The size of the area
  • How much old coating is on the surface
  • How well the old sealer has bonded
  • The condition of the pavers and the joints
  • Whether movement needs repair first
On site

We judge the coating in person

Photos help us prepare, but the coating is judged on site. If we find something different from what you described, we tell you before the work starts.

After the restoration

Drying, curing and aftercare.

Resealing follows the same rules as any paver sealing job. Your job gets its own instructions, because the sealer and the weather change the times.

  • 24 hrs

    On foot

Typical advice after resealing is about a day without foot traffic.

  • 48 hrs

    On wheels

And about two days before vehicles go back on.

  • Off

    Sprinklers

Irrigation stays off during the work and for the aftercare period we give you.

Good to know

  • Warranty terms

Patrick gives a minimum 3 year warranty on paver sealing. Ask what terms cover your restoration and reseal before the work begins.

  • Sweep and rinse gently

A resealed surface stays clean with sweeping and a gentle rinse. It does not need high pressure.

  • Ask about yearly care

Annual or semiannual visits let us look over the surface before problems grow, see recurring exterior cleaning.

How it works

From first call to restored pavers.

Four steps, and you know what is coming at each one.

  1. Talk it through

Call, text or send the form. Tell us what you see and add photos if you can. When a job needs it, we come and look in person.

  2. Get a written estimate

It lists what is included and why. Nothing is scheduled until you approve it.

  3. Prep and work

We send preparation instructions. You clear furniture, vehicles and anything movable, and turn the sprinklers off. Then we strip, prepare and reseal as the estimate says.

  4. Walk it, then pay

We check the finished job with you and go over any aftercare. Payment comes after that, and we follow up to make sure you are happy.

Questions

Before you book the wash.

Does every old sealer need stripping?
Close portrait of a smiling man

No. We look at the coating and at the pavers to decide what your job needs. Having sealer on the surface does not tell us the right treatment on its own.

Can you assess white or cloudy pavers?
Close portrait of a smiling man

Yes. Send clear photos and tell us about any past treatment, so we can prepare. We judge the coating on site rather than guess from a picture.

Can restoration include sanding and resealing?
Close portrait of a smiling man

Yes, Patrick does all of those. Your estimate states which stripping, cleaning, sanding and sealing stages your pavers need. See paver cleaning, sanding and sealing.

What if some of my pavers have sunk?
Close portrait of a smiling man

Settled pavers need to be lifted and reset before any coating. Tell us about them when you ask for your estimate, so the plan covers both. See paver repair and releveling.

Does the 3 year warranty cover restoration?
